After the successful establishment of the San Luis Youth Orchestra in 1991, the Orchestras leader, Mº Darío A. Ntaca, has undertaken several projects in different areas of Argentina and the Americas. During 1996 and 1997, the Greater Buenos Aires Youth Orchestra and the Mercosur Youth Orchestra have been launched with excellent results both socially and artistically. The MYS has done extensive survey in several countries in Latin-America and the Caribbean to effectively detect potential communities that could adopt our system. In response to the request of the Governments of Jamaica and Barbados, a methodology was published after three years of detailed observation of the social and cultural phenomena of these nations. Supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina, the Organization of American States (OAS) and the UNESCO, a team of young professionals from the MYS worked over this period of time in consolidating a number of Youth Orchestras in the Anglo-speaking Caribbean. Currently, the Governments of Grenada and Trinidad and Tobago have requested the support of the MYS for the creation of their National Youth Orchestras. According to the worldwide System of Youth Orchestras conceived by the UNESCO the MYS has started a significant survey in Asia; Mº Ntaca has consequently visited several of this continents nations including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan. Moreover, Mr. Ntaca has traveled to some Middle-Eastern countries to further his research. The MYS is in the process of strengthening ties with these nations to establish the criteria for regional and local orchestras in those areas. |
